Anti wrinkle injections

Anti-wrinkle injections are non-permanent treatments to smooth lines and wrinkles. It is suitable for crows feet, frown and worry lines, lip or smokers lines, as well as to improve the jawline and neck appearance (the ‘Nephertite lift’).  If you’re self-conscious about your gummy smile, or even excessive sweating, anti-wrinkle injections can also improve these conditions.  Botox is the most widely known, among a number of licenced brands of anti-wrinkle medications used by Dr. Singh.

“Botulinum toxin injections, such as Botox, temporarily relax the muscles in your face to smooth out lines and wrinkles” (NHS).
This naturally occurring protein blocks the transition of chemical messages sent from the nerve to cause the muscle to contract, resulting in the muscle remaining in a temporary resting state.

As a prescription only medicine you MUST have a face to face consultation with a licensed prescriber. Dr. Singh will take a detailed medical history and assess your needs and expectations to ensure this is the appropriate treatment for you. In line with your treatment plan, one to five injections are given per target site with additional ‘top up’ during follow-up as required. Post-treatment advice includes keeping the target muscles active for a few hours and avoiding extremes of heat or cold, vigorous exercise, lying down or leaning over for 4-6 hours.
A very fine needle is used and generally this treatment is not painful and can be tolerated with no anaesthetic. Ice may be helpful in numbing the skin as well as reducing the risk of bruising. For those more sensitive to pain, our doctor is licenced to use local anaesthetic if required.
Results will be based on personal preference and individual treatment plan. Anti-wrinkle medications aim to relax the facial muscles, not “freeze” them: dosage and site of treatment influences results. VP Medspa advocate for natural results; for those who prefer the “frozen look” that’s perfectly fine, and treatment is tailored accordingly. Be aware, anti-wrinkle treatment is not as effective for static lines (lines present without expression). Our doctor will advise you.
Within 2 to 3 days you will notice some improvement, with the full result seen at 2-3 weeks.
Results tend to last 3-4 months. Movement will begin recovering from 8 weeks. Frequent treatment at intervals of less than 3 months is NOT recommended.
Our doctor will assess your suitability and advise. Botulinum toxin cannot be given to pregnant or breastfeeding women; is not suitable for patients with certain neurological disorders; if you’re taking certain medicines; and if you have previously experienced adverse reactions to any botulinum toxin treatment.
All treatments carry a degree of risk. This will be discussed with during consultation. Side effects include, but are not limited to bruising, swelling and/or redness at injection site, asymmetry of expression, brow or eyelid drooping, headache or a sensation of ‘tightness’ or ‘heaviness’. Adverse events are uncommon, usually occur within a few days of treatment and are generally temporary.
